How do you see yourself five years from now? Or maybe ten? Chances are, you don’t see yourself disabled. A surprising number of people do find themselves hurt or sick and unable to work even if only for a short time.
Long-Term Disability (LTD)
ABC Companies provides long-term disability (LTD) coverage to help protect your income should you become ill or injured and unable to work. ABC Companies provides this benefit at no cost to you.
Should you become disabled, and following a 90 day elimination period, your LTD policy provides a replacement for up to 60 percent of your monthly pre-disability salary up to a maximum of $0000 per month.
Voluntary Short-Term Disability (STD)
ABC Companies offers voluntary short-term disability (STD) coverage to help protect your income should you become ill or injured and unable to work. When you enroll in this benefit, you pay the full cost via pre-tax payroll deduction, through a 125 Cafeteria Plan.
If you become disabled, and following a 14 day elimination period, STD coverage through Mutual of Omaha will replace up to 60% of income, to a maximum of $1,600 a week. The benefit will last for a maximum of 11 weeks, at which point LTD coverage will begin if necessary.
Please refer to your Mutual of Omaha plan description for full details of your disability policy including a pre-existing condition explanation and information on benefit duration. If you have questions, please contact Mutual of Omaha.
Employees in California or New York should carefully consider voluntary STD due to varying state regulations. This STD benefit will be offset by benefits received from non-voluntary state plans.
